Dawn Hathaway is the 2023 recipient of the Kathryn Gurfein Fellowship at the Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College. Currently, she is finishing her first novel, set in the 1960s in a gothic, moss-laden Pacific Northwest.

Originally from Washington State and Alaska, Dawn Hathaway first travelled east to attend Vassar College, where she earned her undergraduate degree. She spent her early career in New York City, writing and directing documentary television.

Today she lives in rural northwest Connecticut, where she spends an inordinate amount of time in the woods conceiving stories—and occasionally getting lost.
